How Do You Define Who Is Your Favorite Author(s)?

Every day I come home to a pile of deliveries on my dining room table. Via Fed Ex, UPS, mail. Books to feature on Largehearted Boy, sent by publishers, publicists, and authors. Occasionally friends of authors lending a helping hand

I open each package and triage the books. Copies requested. Definite coverage. Possible coverage. Occasionally, I actually gasp when a book I had no idea was being published arrives from a favorite author (yes, I am a book nerd).
How do you define your favorite author? When asked this recently, I replied that my favorite authors are the ones I most anticipate new books from. Authors whose writing gets stronger with every book, who aren’t afraid to take chances with new projects.
My current favorite authors: Lauren Groff, Samanta Schweblin, Jesse Ball, Han Kang, and Garth Greenwell. There are many others, ask me tomorrow and half this list will be different, so many writers are at the top of their game now…
